Project Blu Eco Dog Bed….sleep easy knowing your dog’s bed is made from sustainable materials

I recently wrote an article for The Daily Express on imaginative and inspirational companies who are using recycled, sustainable materials, saving them from landfill to be used again to create something new.

One of the brands I wrote about were the brilliant pet-care company Project Blu . They are committed to being a pet and planet-friendly brand by using sustainable materials in everything they make – from beds to collars and leads.

Barney was gifted a beautiful Eco Nest Dog Bed, and as the pictures show, he took to it pretty easily. No sooner was it on the floor than he pawed at it for just a moment, then settled down for an afternoon snooze next to the fire.

The bed is made from an eco-fabric fashioned from recycled ocean bound plastic (such as bottles and discarded fishing nets, plus clothing saved from landfill. The company work with coastal communities in India and The Philippines to collect this waste.

The result is a soft, but hard-wearing fabric, perfect for a pooch. It’s also washable at 30º or below. The beds come in plain colour way or the chevron design pictured. Ours is the Danube colour way, a fresh grey, white and blue mix.

Project Blu says: “The primary objective of Project Blu’s mission is to prevent plastic from entering the ocean. Less that 5% of Ocean plastic reaches the surface or washes up on coastlines. The majority sinks to the bottom of the ocean where it is broken down into polluting micro-plastics. The micro-plastics are ingested by marine animals and the toxins are now entering the human foodchain. Cleaning the ocean is not enough. We need to work with local communities in the World’s poorest nations to stop the flow of plastic from entering our oceans.”

The Eco Dog bed costs from £44.99, from Project Blu
