Kick Back Times is edited by me, Kim Jones, a journalist with 25 years experience of writing for national newspapers and magazines – first as a feature writer on various women’s magazines in London (such as Woman’s Own and Bella) and now as a freelancer for popular women’s mags, websites and national papers such as The Daily Mirror, Woman’s Own and the Sunday Express Magazine. Take a look at some of my features here: Kimjoneswrites.contently.com
I live in Cardiff with my partner Alistair ( a press and TV/film stills photographer), our two sons (17 and 13), a cat and a cocker spaniel.
In my job I’m lucky enough to write about everything from health & beauty to travel and real-life. I also get to hear about stacks of inspiring information and products – some of which I get to write about and others which I’d love to tell everyone about but which don’t fit into the articles I’m working on. So, you’ll find some of the pages of this site filled with that kind of stuff – news, info and reviews of the latest foods, home & health products, family days out, restaurants, theatre visits and more – anything that you can enjoy in your family’s ‘kick back’ time.
There’s also a section on travel and family holidays because we do love going away (who doesn’t?). My own love of travelling began when, in my first job at Wedding & Home magazine, I was lucky enough to journey all over the world reviewing honeymoon destinations – everything from orphan orangutan-watching in Borneo to cruising the Caribbean; reliving the golden age of train travel aboard the Orient Express bound for Vienna and capturing the romance of Rajput palaces in India.
There’s a special section on dog-friendly places to stay and eat because as any dog-lover knows…it’s all about the dog! (Here’s our Barney, below)
And, because my elder son is at the stage of looking at where he might study at University, there’s also reviews of University towns and cities, written by those in the know, to hopefully help you get a feel for each location. I’ll keep expanding this section as and when I can, so keep checking.
So, welcome to the site – somewhere we hope you will return to time and again to kick back, relax and browse….
And please do get in touch if you have any comments or ideas on what you’d like to see on the site next… we would love to hear from you.
