For Christmas, Barney was lucky enough be gifted a beautiful brown luxury sheepskin pet bed from Jacobs & Dalton, A North Yorkshire based retailer of sheepskin products.
It’s super-soft and he loves lazing about on it, as these blissful pics show.
What’s more, I’ve learned that a genuine sheepskin pet bed is naturally thermoregulating. This means that your pet should never get too hot nor too cold when lying on it.
Though it may look like a winter-only bed, it’s suited for summer-use too. That’s because sheepskin has the ability to wick away moisture, forming a barrier of dry air between your dog and the bed, which means they won’t overheat.
Apparently, the material can also be soothing, helping to relieve aches and pains in arthritic pets.
Another brilliant bonus? Genuine sheepskin has antibacterial properties which can help keep doggy pongs to a minimum. A regular shake and a gentle brush frees it from debris and pet hair and if you need to wash it, you can pop it in the machine on a cool woollen setting.
Use a mild, non-bio, non-bleach detergent – either a specialist sheepskin product or a wool-friendly one. Always avoid normal washing powder as it can make sheepskin brittle and discolour the wool.
We love the stylish look of this soft bed, too. And the price is really purse-friendly. Just £40 (when we would have expected to have to pay at least double that price)
