Wimbledon would have been well over by now – had it ever happened in 2020 – but tennis is still going on strong in local clubs across the land (as long as another lockdown doesn’t happen, that is).
I’ve been trying out the new Asics Gel Resolution 8. They come in a variety of colourways but my favourite are these white and lagoon blue versions.
Suitable for play on all surfaces, the gel technology which cushions the heel and middle of the foot means heavy landings are shock-free.
The shoe offers great support, holding the foot firmly and keeping it stable through on-the-run quick position changes.
It’s a snug-fit generally, and especially in the mid-foot and toe-box area so may be too tight for wider feet (though there is a wider version available).
The ‘flexion fit’ means that after a few wears, the shoes became flexible enough not to pinch in that area prone to it (the toe-bend) and they ‘gave’ enough for me to feel comfortable in them.
Toe-jamming has been non-existent as the shoe holds the foot nicely in place from toe to heel.
The outsole is really durable and hasn’t shown too much wear after a few weeks’ of use. I don’t feel in any danger of slipping in them. Slightly heavier than the last tennis shoes I had, but I soon got used to the small extra weight and it didn’t seem to hamper any running around.
If you’re looking for an excellently made, great quality tennis shoe that provides great cushioning, stability and support, they’re definitely worth investing in.
